~ Beau ~

January 3, 2012 ~ 13 yrs old .. Senior doxie at the Baldwin County Animal Shelter, Summerdale AL… rescued by Kathy Hamilton. Bella’s Fund made a donation to help with his vetting.
VIA: Baldwin County Animal Control
BEAU’S STORY:  “Beau was brought is as a stray, but had a current Rabies tag on. We called his owner and he stated that he lives in Georgia and has given him away 2 years ago. He took Beau to the the Vet prior to giving him away and got a 3 year Rabies, year of hw meds and a year of flea meds. He gave him to a local family. He gave us the contact information and trailer park information of the people he gave Beau to. We were unable to reach the owners, but talked to the trailer park office staff and they said there was a big falling out and the family was evicted from the park. I guess they left his tag on in hopes that we would call the previous owner, but unfortunately, the previous owner still does not want him. The previous owner also states the his skin was in perfect condition when he gave him away and he has flea allergies. He also said that Beaus brother has an identical tumor and that it’s benign.”
UPDATE: via Kathy – January 22 “Beau traveled to Tina on Saturday. He did great at my house and made the rest of the trip to KY just fine. Tina said he is settlng on and doing well. He was to go to the vet yesterday to be checked out. I will post when I get details on the vet visit. Beau was a joy, very sweet and laid back. Gets around good and loves to go for walks. A sweet boy.”
UPDATE: via Tina, Beau’s Forever Mom – “Beau loves me.. i love Beau. he does have hearing loss and also vision loss. I had a nite light in the wall and I said “nite” and turned big light out and I walked to the couch and sit down and he could not find his way to me. So I keep small lamp on so her can see. When we go outside at night i notice he stays very close to me as he doesnt see well in dim light. He seems happy and him and Jaxon are big buddies. We didnt go to vet today but tomorrow for sure. I have been giving him biotene vitamin like I give Jax and Haley, as they both have skin issues and allergies, and I have not noticed him itching all day. he loves puttin ghead in my lap but he doesnt burrow under blankets like most doxies..or I havent seen him do it. Im anxious to see what vet says. I will get some photos up soon..I take bad pics and the ones I have are not great. Beau is learning to climb the doxie stairs to the couch but he wasnt use to them at all. He cant climb stairsteps but these are little ones especially for doxies.”

UPDATE:  May 2012 via Tina, Beau’s Mom – ” my boys tucked in and ready for bed. Beau is behind Jaxon. Jaxon is suckling the blanket. They are the best buddies ever, really love each other. And this is actually how they sleep most of the time. Beau is not itching at all. He takes biotin and allerg 3 for allergys. He is on Heartguard once a month (slow kill for the worms) I give him antibiotic one week of each month for his teeth to keep them from hurting until we can get a good dental done and he gets doxicycline every other month to keep worms that are dying away from creating infection in his body. He also gets a pain pill occasionally if he is having bad day. he loves a bath ALOT and he gets oatmeal bath weekly or bi weekly. He is super smart and housetrained, barks to go outside. He cant climb steps so we carry him up and down. he is really a joy and im so glad we found him. He keeps jaxon in line too and Jaxon acts as if Beau is his mother..cutest thing ever.”
